ABOUT THE BOOK

A Shower of Divine Compassion is a beautiful and intimate compilation of the collected poems of Srila Prabhupada, offering a rare glimpse into the heart of a pure devotee. While the author is world-renowned for his scholarly commentaries on Vedic texts, this volume showcases his "kavi" (poetic) nature through soulful outpourings of love for Lord Krishna. Most of these poems were originally composed in his native Bengali and are presented here with English translations, capturing the raw emotion of his spiritual journey and his mission to spread Krishna consciousness. The book’s title reflects the Vedic metaphor of the spiritual master as a raincloud that pours down mercy to extinguish the "blazing fire" of material existence. It is an essential read for those seeking to understand the personal, devotional depth behind the founder-acharya of ISKCON.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (1896–1977) was a global spiritual leader and the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Born in Calcutta, he was instructed by his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, to bring the teachings of Lord Chaitanya to the English-speaking world. At the age of 69, he traveled to the United States with only a few rupees and a trunk of books, eventually sparking a worldwide spiritual revolution. He authored over 70 volumes of highly acclaimed translations and summaries of India's philosophical and religious classics, including the Bhagavad-gita As It Is. His life’s work continues to provide a scientific and accessible framework for Bhakti Yoga to millions of people across the globe.
