ABOUT THE BOOK
Humans of Bombay is a poignant collection of photographs and stories that capture the diverse, gritty, and deeply emotional lives of Mumbaikars. Inspired by Brandon Stanton’s famous Humans of New York project, Karishma Mehta started this journey as a Facebook page in 2014. The book serves as a permanent archive of the most moving narratives shared on the platform.
It features people from all walks of life—from billionaires and Bollywood stars to street vendors, sex workers, and survivors of tragedy. The core philosophy of the book is that every individual has a story worth telling, and by sharing these stories, we can build a more empathetic society.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Karishma Mehta is an entrepreneur, writer, and the founder of the "Humans of Bombay" (HoB) platform. While she began the project at the age of 21 with a simple camera and a curious mind, she has since grown it into one of India’s most influential storytelling platforms. Her work is credited with humanizing the "faceless" millions of Mumbai and raising significant funds for social causes through the power of narrative.
