ABOUT THE BOOK
Ravindra Ramayan is a unique and lyrical retelling of the ancient epic Ramayana, composed by the legendary music director, lyricist, and singer Ravindra Jain. Rather than a traditional prose translation, this work is a "musical literary" masterpiece. Jain reconstructed the story of Lord Rama through his own poetic verses, bhajans, and dialogues, designed to be both read as literature and performed as music.
It is deeply influenced by Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas but carries the distinct "Jain touch"—simple, heart-wrenching, and melodious language that made his television soundtracks (like Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan) a household staple in India.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ravindra Jain (1944–2015) was a titan of the Indian music industry. Born visually impaired, he possessed an extraordinary "inner vision" for poetry and melody. While he composed music for countless Bollywood films, his magnum opus was his contribution to the devotional genre. He was the soul behind the music of the 1987 Ramayan TV series, and his Ravindra Ramayan is seen as the literary culmination of his lifelong devotion to the "Ram-Katha."
