Sharanagathi: The Super Highway to Godhead

Sharanagathi generally means surrendering of a weak person to a strong man who is capable of giving protection. But here, Sharanagathi means self-surrender of a person at the Lotus feet of the Lord Sriman Naarayana, who and who alone can grant Sharanagathi aimed at attaining moksha – no other manifestation of God excepting Vishnu’s can claim to have this supreme authority.

If a devotee wants to put an end to the cycle of births and deaths and reach godhead (Sri Vaikunta), Sharanagathi is the only viable and simplest course open to him, the alternatives (viz. Jnaana Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga) being extremely difficult and hardly achievable by anyone in the present day world (Kali Yuga).
