ABOUT THE BOOK
Sri Bhashyam (also spelled Śrī Bhāṣya) — a Sanskrit commentary on the Brahma Sūtras (also called the Sārīraka Mīmāṃsā). ([Sadagopan][1])
Author: Ramanuja (traditionally) — he is credited with writing this commentary as part of his elucidation of Viśiṣṭādvaita Vedānta.
Language: Sanskrit (often available with Tamil translations) ([Exotic India Art][2])
Purpose: To interpret the Brahma Sūtras in a way consistent with the Śrī Vaiṣṇava theological perspective — emphasising the personal nature of the Supreme (Viṣṇu / Nārāyaṇa), and the reality of the individual soul and the world as real (not illusory).
The commentary deals with core Vedānta questions: what is Brahman (the absolute), how individual souls (jīvas) relate to Brahman, what is the nature of the world, how liberation (mokṣa) is attained.
If you are interested in Vedānta, Sri Bhashyam gives you a major non-Advaitic perspective (Viśiṣṭādvaita) which remains influential in many temples, lineages, and scholars.
