ABOUT THE BOOK
Sri Samkara's Viveka Chudamani with the commentary by Sri Chandrasekharendra Bharati Mahaswami is considered one of the most authoritative and spiritually potent editions of this classical Advaita Vedanta text.
Viveka Chudamani (The Crest-Jewel of Discrimination) is a foundational Prakarana Granth (introductory treatise) attributed to Adi Shankara. It outlines the entire journey of a seeker—from the initial development of viveka (discrimination) to the ultimate state of Sahaja Samadhi (natural enlightenment). This particular version is unique because it is a "commentary by a Jivanmukta on the words of a Jivanmukta," offering rare experiential depth to the philosophical verses.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sri Chandrasekharendra Bharati Mahaswami (1892–1954) was the 34th Pontiff of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham. He was a renowned Jivanmukta (liberated while alive) and an extraordinary scholar of the Shastras. Known for his profound detachment and deep meditative states, his commentary is not merely linguistic or intellectual; it is a practical guide based on his own direct realization of the Brahman. His explanations simplify the most abstract Vedantic concepts into "upadesha" (spiritual instruction) that a modern seeker can apply.
