ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Srila Prabodhananda Sarasvati was a 16th-century saint and a towering scholar of the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. Originally a prominent teacher in South India, he became a dedicated follower of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and eventually moved to Vrindavan to live a life of deep renunciation and "bhajan." He is celebrated for his "madhurya" (sweetness) style of poetry, also authoring the famous Radha-Rasa-Sudhanidhi. In the esoteric theology of the tradition, he is identified as Tungavidya Sakhi, one of the eight principal gopis of Krishna. His writings remain influential for their uncompromising focus on the confidential pastimes of the Divine Couple.
