ABOUT THE BOOK
Universal Message of The Bhagavad Gita is a monumental three-volume commentary that interprets the ancient scripture through the lens of modern thought, science, and social relevance. Based on a series of lectures delivered by Swami Ranganathananda at the Advaita Ashrama, this work moves away from purely ritualistic or sectarian interpretations. Instead, it presents the Gita as a "science of human values" and a "philosophy of integrated lived experience." The Swami bridges the gap between the spiritual insights of the East and the democratic and scientific temper of the West, emphasizing the Gita’s message of Abhyudaya (material welfare) and Nishreyasa (spiritual freedom).
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Swami Ranganathananda (1908–2005) was a towering intellectual, a profound orator, and the 13th President of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission. Known as a "spiritual ambassador," he traveled extensively across the globe, addressing universities and international forums on the relevance of Vedanta in the modern age. He was deeply influenced by Swami Vivekananda’s vision of "Practical Vedanta." His scholarship was unique in its ability to synthesize the discoveries of modern physics and biology with the intuitive realizations of the Upanishadic seers. He was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor.
