About the book
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is a foundational text of philosophical yoga, exploring the nature of the mind and the path to spiritual enlightenment. This ancient Indian text outlines eight limbs of yoga, including the cessation of mental modifications (citta-vṛtti-nirodha) and the cultivation of discernment between Puruṣa (the Self) and Prakṛti (material nature). Through practices like meditation, discipline, and detachment, the yogi aims to attain a state of Kaivalya, or isolation, where the Self is realized in its pure essence. This text is a cornerstone of yoga philosophy.
