ABOUT THE BOOK
Churning of the Heart (Set of 3 Volumes), originally titled Manthan, is an extraordinary spiritual masterpiece authored by the revered master Swami Shivom Tirth. Published by the Devatma Shakti Society, this profound three-volume trilogy serves as an intimate spiritual travelogue, an instructional guide, and a deeply moving psychological map detailing the inner experiences of an earnest seeker navigating the path of Shaktipat Kayakalpa (the awakening and transmission of Kundalini energy).
The primary objective of the work is to capture the complex internal transformations—the titular "churning"—that a disciple undergoes when exposed to the grace of a true enlightened Guru. Unlike dry, academic treaties on yoga, these volumes are written as an auto-biographical narrative, detailing Swami Shivom Tirth's years of intense discipleship under his master, Swami Vishnu Tirth. The three volumes cover distinct spiritual milestones:
- Volume 1 (The Awakening): Focuses on the initial encounters between the master and disciple, the philosophical surrender of the ego, and the profound initial experience of Shaktipat (energy transmission) that activates the dormant Kundalini energy.
- Volume 2 (The Purificatory Process): Explores the intense, often unsettling psychological and physical purifications (Kriyas) that occur as the awakened energy systematically dissolves deep-seated karmic impressions (Samskaras) within the subtle energy body.
- Volume 3 (The State of Grace): Documents the higher stages of meditation, the stabilization of the mind, the unfolding of universal love, and the ultimate transition of the disciple from a seeker into a spiritual master in his own right.
Rather than presenting an idealized, painless view of spirituality, the text candidly documents the doubts, emotional resistance, fears, and ultimate triumphs of the human spirit. Through beautifully woven dialogues, parables, and real-life interactions between master and disciple, the trilogy provides invaluable guidance for anyone experiencing the symptoms of energetic awakening, establishing itself as a definitive textbook on the practical path of Siddha Yoga.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Swami Shivom Tirth (1924–2008) was one of the most prominent and globally revered masters of the Shaktipat tradition in the 20th century. Born in Punjab, he completed his higher education in literature before answering an irreversible spiritual call that led him to the feet of his Guru, Swami Vishnu Tirth, at the Dewas Ashram in Madhya Pradesh. He was formally initiated into the order of Sannyasa in 1959.
Swamiji’s authorial style is highly celebrated for its exquisite simplicity, poetic grace, and profound psychological insight. He possessed a rare ability to articulate the most subtle, abstract movements of cosmic energy and internal consciousness into relatable human terms. He traveled extensively across the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, establishing centers, giving public discourses, and initiating thousands of seekers into the path of meditation before entering Mahasamadhi in 2008.
