The book supplies the most exhaustive account, published so far, of the Dates and Dynasties of Kings and illustrious personages in ancient India. For the chronologiical evidence the author has utilized the relevant portions of the Puranic Text which he has collated and authenticated from the manuscripts and printed editions and which he quotes in plenty in original as also in English translation. The account covers a long period of history, from the Patriarch Manu to Aiksvakavas, Visvamitras, Yadavas, Turvasas, Druhyus, Anavas, Pauravas etc. and concludes with Pradyotas, Mauryas, Sungas, Kanvas and Andhras. The study is documented with complete critical apparatus: Introduction, Charts, Indices and Tables. The Indices are arranged by verse and paragraph numbers, for the convenience of the reader, so that he may find with facility the reasoning behind a statement.
