ABOUT THE BOOK
The scheme called Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) was devised in 1876 by Melvil Dewey. This scheme is widely used in a majority of libraries in about 150 countries. Due to continuous revisions, the 23rd edition of DDC was published in July 2011. No other classification scheme has published so many editions. With suitable examples, this book explains the salient provisions of DDC 23. It will be useful to library professionals, as well as library and information science students.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Sanjay K. Kaushik is a distinguished library professional and educator specializing in library classification systems. He earned his Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) in 1993 and a Ph.D. in Library and Information Science in 2001 from Kurukshetra University. Currently serving as an Assistant Librarian at M.D. University Library in Rohtak, Haryana, Dr. Kaushik has over 15 years of experience utilizing the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system in university libraries. He has also taught library classification to Bachelor of Library and Information Science students through distance education programs at M.D. University and Kurukshetra University.
