ABOUT THE BOOK

Thirumurugattrupadai Explanation is a masterful commentary on one of the most sacred and oldest works of Tamil literature. Originally composed by the poet Nakkirar during the Sangam era, Thirumurugattrupadai is the first poem of the Pattupattu (Ten Idylls) collection. It serves as a "guide" (Arrupadai) for a devotee to reach the presence of Lord Murugan.

K. V. Jagannathan’s explanation is highly revered for its clarity and devotional depth. He breaks down the complex Sangam Tamil grammar and vocabulary into accessible prose, explaining the six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu) of Murugan described in the text. The commentary doesn't just focus on the literal meaning; it explores the philosophical, historical, and aesthetic layers of the poem, making it an essential companion for both literature students and spiritual seekers.
