It serves as both a delightful read for all ages and a valuable resource for researchers, anthropologists, and social scientists.

About the Authors
G. K. Ghosh, a Chemical Engineering graduate, is a prolific writer with over 15 books on topics including environment and anthropology. He has presented numerous papers at the Indian Science Congress and has published works in various languages. His four-year tenure in North Eastern India allowed him to collect many folk tales from the region.

Shukla Ghosh, a graduate of the University of Calcutta and trained in Music, has also presented papers at the Indian Science Congress and co-authored a book on Indian textiles. Her time in North Eastern India inspired her to compile a series of folk tales.

Introduction
Assam is a land of rich diversity, derived from the term "Assama," meaning unequal, which reflects its varied terrain. The region's history is marked by the valor of the Ahoms, who ruled from 1228 AD until the British arrival, famously defeating both the Koch Kingdom and the Mughal army.

The state is home to numerous ethnic groups, each contributing to a unique cultural tapestry. This compilation captures folk tales that embody the essence of Assam’s nature and culture. Though this collection represents just a fraction of Assam’s rich oral tradition, it aims to preserve and share these stories, offering insight into the region’s societal nuances. The folk tales also bridge tribal and Vedic cultures, providing a glimpse into the soul of human culture across the world.
