ABOUT THE BOOK

Gitanjali (Song Offerings) is a world-renowned collection of poems by Rabindranath Tagore, for which he became the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. The Hindi edition translates the profound spiritual and mystical essence of the original Bengali verses into a language that resonates with the heart of the Indian masses. The poems are deeply rooted in the Bhakti tradition, exploring the intimate relationship between the human soul and the Divine through metaphors of nature, love, and life. It is not merely a book of poetry but a spiritual journey that touches upon universal themes of peace, humility, and the search for truth. This collection remains a cornerstone of world literature, celebrated for its lyrical beauty and timeless philosophical depth.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rabindranath Tagore (1861–1941), often called Gurudev and the Bard of Bengal, was a polymath who reshaped Bengali literature, music, and art. A poet, novelist, composer, and painter, he was a cultural icon whose influence extended far beyond the borders of India. He founded the Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan, aiming to create a synthesis of Eastern and Western philosophies. Tagore's writing is characterized by its deep humanism, a love for nature, and a tireless pursuit of freedom—both political and spiritual. He is the unique composer of the national anthems of two nations: India (Jana Gana Mana) and Bangladesh (Amar Shonar Bangla). His legacy continues to inspire millions as a symbol of intellectual and creative excellence.
