ABOUT THE BOOK
Gurudev Sivananda (Holy Centenary Commemorative Pictorial) is a magnificent visual and biographical tribute published to mark the 100th birth anniversary of the great yogi and sage, Swami Sivananda Saraswati. This commemorative volume is a treasure trove of rare photographs, archival documents, and heartfelt testimonials that capture the life, mission, and divine presence of the founder of the Divine Life Society. The book meticulously traces his journey from a dedicated physician in Malaya to a world-renowned spiritual master in Rishikesh. Beyond the imagery, it distills his core teachings—"Serve, Love, Give, Purify, Meditate, Realize"—providing a holistic view of his impact on the global spread of Yoga and Vedanta. It serves as both a historical record and a source of deep spiritual inspiration for seekers around the world.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Swami Sivananda Saraswati (1887–1963) was one of the most influential spiritual leaders of the 20th century. A trained medical doctor, he renounced his career to pursue a life of spiritual realization, eventually establishing the Sivananda Ashram and the Divine Life Society on the banks of the Ganges. He was a prolific author of over 200 books, written in simple, direct English to make the highest truths of the Upanishads accessible to all. Swami Sivananda was a pioneer in bringing Yoga to the masses, and his disciples—such as Swami Vishnudevananda, Swami Satchidananda, and Swami Chinmayananda—went on to spark the global Yoga revolution. His life was a living example of "selfless service" and "universal love," transcending boundaries of religion and nationality.
