ABOUT THE BOOK

Hindu Dharma: The Universal Way of Life is a massive, encyclopedic collection of discourses given by the 68th Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. This book is widely regarded as one of the most authoritative and lucid explanations of Sanatana Dharma ever published in the modern era.

The text is based on the Paramacharya’s talks given in Tamil between 1907 and 1994, which were later compiled and translated. It covers an extraordinary range of subjects, from the daily rituals and the significance of various festivals to deep philosophical inquiries into the Vedas, Upanishads, and the Puranas. The "Guru" emphasizes that Hindu Dharma is not a "religion" in the Western sense, but a natural, universal law (Sanatana) that sustains the world.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Pujyasri Chandrasekharendra Sarasvati Svami (1894–1994), affectionately known as the "Sage of Kanchi" or "Mahaperiyava," was one of the most revered spiritual leaders of 20th-century India. He lived a life of extreme simplicity and profound scholarship, walking thousands of miles across India to revive traditional values.

He was a polyglot and a master of the Shastras, yet he had a unique ability to explain complex metaphysical truths to common people using simple analogies. His life was a testament to the "Advaita" philosophy he taught—living in total harmony with all beings.
