ABOUT THE BOOK
Krsna Karnamrta (Nectar for Krishna’s Ears) is one of the most celebrated works of Sanskrit devotional poetry. Composed by the medieval saint Bilvamangala Thakura (also known as Lilasuka), it is a collection of 103 verses (in the most widely accepted version) that describe the exquisite beauty, childhood pastimes, and divine attributes of Lord Krishna.
The text holds a special place in the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. It is historically significant because Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu discovered a manuscript of this work during his travels in South India. He was so moved by its emotional depth and theological precision that he had it copied and brought back to Bengal, where it became a cornerstone of Raganuga Bhakti (spontaneous devotional love).
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Bilvamangala Thakura was a Brahmin scholar from South India whose life is a legendary tale of transformation. Initially led by worldly desires, a sharp rebuke from his beloved, Chintamani, turned his heart toward God. He famously blinded himself to avoid further worldly distractions and spent the rest of his life in Vraja (Vrindavan), "seeing" Krishna through the eyes of the soul. His poetry is characterized by Madhurya Rasa (sweetness) and a unique ability to capture the "form" of God through words.
