ABOUT THE BOOK
Paths and Grounds of Guhyasamaja by Gawai Lodoe Yangchen (also known as the 2nd Jamyang Shepa) is a foundational commentary in the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. It serves as a technical manual for the study of the Guhyasamaja Tantra, which is traditionally regarded as the "King of Tantras" because it contains the most complete explanation of the Generation Stage and the Completion Stage.
The book focuses on the "Paths" (the progression of mental states) and "Grounds" (the levels of spiritual realization) specifically within the context of Highest Yoga Tantra (Anuttarayoga Tantra).
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Gawai Lodoe Yangchen (1692–1741) was the 2nd Jamyang Shepa, a lineage of extremely high-ranking incarnations associated with Labrang Monastery.
- Scholarly Authority: He was a master of the "Great Exposition" style of writing, which synthesizes the vast teachings of Lama Tsongkhapa.
- Synthesizer: His work is essential because it bridges the gap between the complex, secret root tantras and the practical application required by a practitioner to attain enlightenment in a single lifetime.
