This manual is divided into 10 different chapters. First and second chapters are confined to the introduction to qualitative organic analysis and apparatus and reagents required for successful completion of practicals. Chapter 3 is devoted to a systemic scheme for identification of unknown organic compound with various flow charts. Chapter 4 includes methods to determine physical constants (M.P., B.P.) of organic compounds with appropriate figures. Specific tests to identify the organic compound which should be carried out after performing the functional group tests are
included in Chapter 5. Chapter 6 is devoted for further characterization and identification of unknown compound that depends on selection and preparation of a suitable solid derivative and accurate determination of its melting point. Chapter 7 is confined for qualitative analysis of binary organic mixtures. A separate chapter is written, in which principles of chemical tests are described precisely.
