ABOUT THE BOOK
Reality In Forty Verses (originally titled Ulladu Narpadu) is a profound philosophical work by Sri Ramana Maharshi, featuring a detailed commentary by K. Lakshmana Sarma. The text distills the essence of Non-Duality (Advaita Vedanta) into forty concise verses, addressing the nature of the "I," the world, and the ultimate reality. Lakshmana Sarma’s commentary is particularly significant as it was reviewed and approved by Sri Ramana himself, ensuring the interpretations remain true to the Maharshi's direct experience. The book serves as a practical guide for the "Path of Self-Enquiry" (Atma-Vichara), systematically dismantling the ego and leading the seeker toward the realization of the true Self. It is considered one of the most authoritative resources for understanding the core teachings of one of India's greatest 20th-century sages.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
K. Lakshmana Sarma (who often used the pseudonym 'Who') was a close and long-time devotee of Sri Ramana Maharshi, spending over twenty years in his presence. A lawyer by profession, he possessed a sharp, analytical mind that he dedicated to studying and codifying the Maharshi’s oral teachings into written form. He is famously known for having studied the Ulladu Narpadu directly under Sri Ramana’s guidance for three years, refining his understanding verse by verse. His deep scholarship in Sanskrit and Vedanta allowed him to bridge the gap between ancient scriptural tradition and the Maharshi’s direct, silent realization. Sarma’s works, including Maha Yoga, remain foundational texts for the global community of Ramana devotees and students of Advaita.
