ABOUT THE BOOK
Sar Bachan Prose (also known as Sar Bachan Radhasoami Vartik) is a foundational spiritual text of the Radhasoami faith, containing the core prose teachings and discourses of Param Purush Puran Dhani Soami Ji Maharaj (Seth Shiv Dayal Singh). The core philosophy of this book centers on the practice of Surat Shabd Yoga—the internal spiritual path of connecting the individual soul (Surat) with the divine cosmic sound current (Shabd or Nam). Presented in accessible, conversational prose, the text systematically details the journey of the soul as it descends into the material world and outlines the precise spiritual methodology required to liberate it from the cycles of karma and reincarnation. The book emphasizes the indispensable role of a living spiritual master (Satguru), ethical living, vegetarianism, and inner meditation, serving as the essential philosophical manual and guide for initiates and seekers of the Radhasoami tradition worldwide.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Param Purush Puran Dhani Soami Ji Maharaj (1818–1878), born Seth Shiv Dayal Singh in Agra, India, is the revered founder of the Radhasoami spiritual movement. Writing and speaking with the direct authority, clarity, and compassion of an enlightened master, his teachings bypass complex ritualism and theological dogma to focus entirely on direct inner spiritual experience. After spending decades in deep meditation and spiritual practice, he began publicly expounding his teachings in 1861, laying the groundwork for a global spiritual tradition. His profound discourses, transcribed into both prose (Sar Bachan Prose) and poetry (Sar Bachan Radhasoami Chhand Band), remain the primary scriptural foundation for all branches of the Radhasoami lineage.
