Tamizhar Nadana Varalaru

This book is based on a very deep and sincere research conducted by the author Dr S Raguraman, on early literature in and on dance in Tamizh through the centuries, viz. Tolkappiam, Koothanool, Panchamarabu, Bharatasenapateeeyam, followed by chapters on the Sangam period, dance in relation to religion and literature, Kappa literature like Silappadikaram, Manimekalai, etc. with their commentaries and en evaluation of these with reference to dance. Texts like the ‘Kalladam’ in the Bhakthi literature seem to provide a rich treasure which should be fine source material for Abhinaya in Bharatanatyam. The book also gives a detailed account of the contributions and patronage given to dance by the various dynasties that ruled the Tamizh country. This book is also available in English.
