ABOUT THE BOOK
The Greatness of Saturn is a captivating blend of storytelling and Vedic wisdom that presents the "therapeutic myth" of Lord Shani (Saturn). The book centers on the Shani Mahatmya, a traditional tale told to appease the planet Saturn during difficult astrological periods. Svoboda explores how Saturn represents the inevitable challenges of life—loss, aging, and discipline—and how understanding his "greatness" can transform suffering into spiritual growth. It is designed not just as a story, but as a remedial tool; by reading or listening to the myth, the reader is said to align themselves with the cosmic energy of Saturn. This work is highly praised for making the complex concepts of Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) and Ayurveda accessible and emotionally resonant for a modern audience.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Dr. Robert E. Svoboda is the first Westerner to graduate from a college of Ayurveda (in 1980) and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. A renowned scholar of vast Eastern traditions, he spent years under the tutelage of his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda, an experience he chronicled in the famous Aghora trilogy. Svoboda is a master of "Vidya" (knowledge) spanning Ayurveda, Jyotish, Tantra, and Vastu. His writing is unique for its ability to weave together scientific rigor, historical context, and deep esoteric insight. As a global educator, he has played a monumental role in bringing authentic Indian healing and spiritual sciences to the Western world with clarity, humor, and profound respect for the tradition.
