Book Description -
While numerous books and articles discuss the non-aligned foreign policies of various states, there has been surprisingly little academic research focused specifically on the non-aligned movement itself. Notably, there is a lack of studies addressing the institutionalization of the movement as an international phenomenon. This book aims to fill that gap in the academic discourse on nonalignment.
Each chapter examines whether, and to what extent, non-aligned states have engaged in institution-building within the movement and how this has contributed to its growth. The study employs historical analysis, empirical verification, and content analysis of non-aligned conference documents and United Nations records.
The book begins with an exploration of the nature and evolution of the non-aligned movement, followed by a detailed examination of participation as a crucial element of institutionalization. This section traces the nature of participation, the factors driving the significant increase in membership, and the general and specific reasons that have led various states to adopt nonalignment as their foreign policy strategy
