ABOUT THE BOOK
The Principal Teachings of Buddhism is a profound commentary on one of the most essential texts in the Tibetan Gelug tradition: Je Tsongkapa’s Three Principal Paths (Lam-tso Nam-sum). This book is a collaborative effort, featuring a detailed commentary by the influential 20th-century master Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche, translated and edited by Geshe Lobsang Tharchin and Michael Roach. It serves as a concise "map" of the entire Buddhist path to enlightenment.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Je Tsongkapa (1357–1419): The founder of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. He wrote the original 14-verse poem upon which this book is based.
Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche (1878–1941): One of the most towering figures in modern Tibetan Buddhism. His oral teachings, known for their clarity and intensity, form the core commentary of this book.
Geshe Lobsang Tharchin: A highly learned scholar and former abbot of Sera Mey Monastery, who brought these teachings to the West.
Michael Roach: One of Geshe Tharchin's primary Western students (and the first American to receive a Geshe degree), who assisted in the translation and contextualization for a modern audience.
