The Unwanted Coin

A coin, which travelled overseas with its owner, gets curious to see the country in which it has landed. That leads the coin to the discovery that it gets rejected by just about everybody. Although it is finally rehabilitated, the story of the coin remains open to several possibilities, some of which the child reading the story may create on her own.

The beautiful story titled 'The Silver Shilling' is certainly not one of the popular stories of the classical writer, Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875). Using the story as a base, the author has created The Unwanted Coin, a story that is as entertaining as it is educative. It gives the child questions to reflect upon, as well as an avenue to get creative.
