ABOUT THE BOOK
The Wives of the Prophet Muhammad (often titled Azwaj-e-Mutahharat) is a reverent biographical work that provides an intimate look into the domestic life of the Prophet Muhammad. Maulana Ashiq Elahi writes this not just as a historical record, but as a moral and spiritual guide for the Muslim Ummah.
The book covers the lives of the "Mothers of the Believers" (Ummahat-ul-Mu'minin), focusing on:
- Biographical Profiles: Detailed accounts of each wife, from Khadija bint Khuwaylid to Maymunah bint al-Harith, detailing their lineages, characters, and the circumstances of their marriages.
- Wisdom Behind the Marriages: The author addresses the socio-political and legislative reasons for the Prophet’s multiple marriages, such as providing for widows, cementing tribal alliances, and teaching Islamic jurisprudence related to family life.
- Domestic Excellence: Insights into how the Prophet treated his wives with equity, kindness, and patience, serving as a blueprint for Islamic marital conduct.
- Contributions to Islam: Highlighting the pivotal roles these women played, particularly Aisha (R.A.), in preserving and narrating thousands of Hadith (Prophetic traditions).
