Lokesh Chandra is a renowned Indian scholar, born on April 11, 1927, in Ambala, Haryana. He's an expert in Vedic studies, Buddhism and Indian arts, with a remarkable ability to learn languages, including English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Chinese, Japanese and many others.
Lokesh Chandra has published over 360 works and text editions, including classics like his Tibetan-Sanskrit Dictionary, Materials for a History of Tibetan Literature and Dictionary of Buddhist Art.He served as the President of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) from 2014 to 2017 and held positions like Vice-President of ICCR and Chairman of the Indian Council of Historical Research.Lokesh Chandra received the Padma Bhushan award in 2006 for his contributions to literature and education.
